Neutral Oil

for the basic treatment of freshly polished or untreated oak floors

The colorless neutral oil is suitable for the invisible basic treatment of oak floors. After application the wood's surface gets a long-lasting freshly polished look. In its appearance it resembles raw oak wood. In addition, the neutral oil protects the wood from the loads of everyday life.

How to do...

Before applying the oil, sand the wood' surface using paper (grit 100 – 120). The floor has to be completely dry and free from dirt. Therefore, clean the floor with an intensive cleanser and water in a ratio of 1 to 40 if necessary. After cleaning the floor, let it dry completely. To achieve optimal results, the wood's moisture level should be at a maximum of 12 %, the air's moisture level at a maximum of 40 – 60 %. Ensure a good ventilation of the room during the application process and the drying time.

1. Shake the oil container carefully before and during the application.

2. Apply the oil in a thin, even coat. Use a paint roller or an oil applicator for application. Allow the oil to absorb for about 5 minutes.

3. Now polish the wood's surface with a polishing machine. Use a beige-coloured polishing pad. The floor's surface should be polished until the whole oil is polished down in the floor. Remove excess oil with a cotton cloth.

4. Allow the floor to dry for about 3 – 4 hours.

5. When the floor's surface is dry, polish the surface with a lacquer sanding pad. Vacuum clean the floor afterwards.

6. Finish the floor treatment with a small amount of Neutral Oil Care. Apply this product in a thin layer. See the back label of the product for further instructions.

7. You can use the floor carefully on the next day. After one week the floor's surface is completely hardened. During the hardening time, the floor should not be exposed to water.

8. Subsequently, you can clean the treated floor area with wood floor soap and water in a ratio of 1 to 10.
